The service was done at our Brighton workshop rather than sent away, and the machine carries a 12 month warranty from The Beanery. If it needs attention in that time it comes back to the same bench, not into a carton bound for interstate. We have been servicing Rocket machines in Melbourne for more than 35 years.

How it brews
The Appartamento runs a 1.8 litre copper heat exchange boiler, so you can pull a shot and steam milk at the same time without waiting for the machine to catch up. Up front is a commercial E61 group with a 58mm portafilter and passive preinfusion, the same group fitted to the larger Rockets. Controls are mechanical throughout. There is no PID and no shot timer, boiler pressure is held by a pressurestat, and that simplicity is a good part of why these machines keep going. It runs from an ordinary 10 amp power point and fills from its own tank, so there is no plumbing to organise.
Worth knowing before you buy
A new Appartamento is $3,395, so this is a way into an E61 heat exchange machine with the servicing already behind it. It is a used machine and it looks its age in places, which is the trade.
