jura-c9
Jura C9

The C9 is Jura's compact bean to cup machine and the replacement for the C8. It keeps the same 26 cm wide body, the same 1.6 litre tank and the same 200 g bean container, but the menu goes from six drinks to 17, with flat white, cortado and espresso macchiato now a single button press.

It suits one or two people who want a proper flat white in the morning without learning to make one. There is nothing to plumb and nothing to dial in each day.

What is new over the C8

17 specialities instead of six, including flat white, cortado and espresso macchiato

Light brew. The Light Extraction Process makes a milder coffee served at around 60 degrees, so it is ready to drink straight away. It is not cold brew, and the C9 does not make cold brew

Everything else that mattered about the C8 carries over: the footprint, the tank, the hopper and the full size brewing unit

How it brews

The Professional Aroma Grinder feeds a variable brewing chamber taking 5 to 16 g, so there is room for a proper dose rather than a compromise. The Pulse Extraction Process pushes water through in short pulses, which is how Jura builds body into an espresso from a bean to cup machine. Coffee strength, brewing temperature and water quantity are all adjustable, and milk is frothed fresh at the touch of a button through the HP1 spout.

Specifications

Specialities: 17

Brewing: hot brew and light brew

Grinder: 1, Professional Aroma Grinder (P.A.G.)

Brewing chamber: variable, 5 to 16 g

Heating system: 1 thermoblock

Pump: 15 bar

Water: 1.6 litre tank. The C9 runs from its own water tank, so there is nothing to plumb and we can have it working the day it lands.

Warranty and servicing

Jura covers the C9 for 25 months in a home, or 12 months if it is used commercially. We sell Jura but we are not an authorised Jura service centre. Warranty work and servicing go through Jura on 1300 285 872. We would rather tell you that before you buy than after. Our Brighton workshop services Rocket, ECM, VBM and Gaggia in house.

Keeping it running

The C9 takes the CLARIS Smart+ filter cartridge. We do not list it online yet, so ring us on 1300 660 118 and we will sort one out. While a CLARIS filter is fitted and active, Jura machines generally stop prompting you to descale, which is the main reason to run one.
